My boyfriend is not as intellectual as I am?
Wisdom, knowledge and understanding are different from book learning. One can have wisdom and understanding of life from life's experiences. Book learning comes from books and if one reads the books, one can learn from them. But learning what a book says is not necessarily a sign of intelligence, merely demonstrates a memory for books. What life demands is an understanding of how to live. You say your bf understands finances and you have trouble in that area. You say he is "VERY street smart" and in the next breath say he lacks common sense. Seems to be a contradiction. You seem proud of your education, which is fine but it takes more than an education to make it in the world, it takes ability and talent and understanding. If you believe your bf can "make it in the world", with or without you, then he is a true gem and to be nourished. If you feel that your "intellectual attainments" are more important to you than his "street smarts", then by all means, find yourself a bf who has similar intellectual attainments. Life is a long time and if you want to spend yours with someone who knows which fork to use and who Darwin is, and if that is most important to you, then find that person. But you have to decide what is really important.
