Would this be a healthy way to lose weight?

I'm 13, 5'3ish and about 120 pounds. I appear a little chubby and lately I've been feeling really self-concious. I want to lose weight to feel confident again; maybe 10 pounds more/less? I'm planning on taking a 30 minute walk every weekday this summer and not eating out of boredom. Will this exersize work for losing weight?
