How easy is it to buy a borsalino/ fedora type hat if you are not familiar with all the different types?

i know this may seem like a silly question but if i went into one of the jewish owned stores saying a wanted a hat suitable for weekdays and one for dress occasion ie shabbos type hat would they be able to help as i am not familiar with all the different types. as long as it is a wide brim and roughly what i want i am not bothered about the particular type
